New system requirements for the PlainStaff smartphone app

Hello!

To ensure the PlainStaff smartphone app remains fast, secure and compliant with modern platform standards, our next update increases the minimum required operating system version.

The update will be released on 24 August 2026 in the App Store and the Google Play Store.

What is changing?

From 24 August 2026, the app will no longer receive updates or new installations on devices running Android 6.0 and older or iOS 14.x and older.

To continue using the newest version of the app, please make sure your device is updated to at least Android 7.0 or iOS 15.1.

Why are we doing this?
  • Security: Older operating systems no longer receive security updates from their manufacturers.
  • Speed: Modern platform features make the app noticeably faster and more stable.
  • Future readiness: Apple and Google require current minimum versions for new app releases.
What should you do now?
  • Check your device settings to see which operating system version is installed.
  • Run a system update before 24 August 2026 if one is available for your device.
  • Let your employees know so they can update their devices in good time.

Good to know: on affected devices the app version that is already installed will keep working for now – but it will no longer receive new features or bug fixes. With the next major update of PlainStaff, the app will no longer start on these devices. Time tracking in the browser remains available on all devices as usual.
